forever grateful that the 1912 FBDCA ban on these marvelous colors that existed in our breed from its inception, did not stop EVOLUTION’s natural selection to protect and preserve the coat color DNA that is responsible for “atat” (tricolor), “cocoa” (chocolate), and “dd” (blue) in the French Bulldog.

Bullistik Chocolate Decadence (retired)

our lovely chocolate fawn, DECADENCE, is an amazing Frenchie and bred by Bullistik.

Decadence is a daughter of our chocolate brindle boy, Chucky, and our chocolate brindle pied girl, Fabia.

This girl, in any color, would be an extraordinary addition to a breeding program, but the fact that she is chocolate fawn is a super bonus.

Her head piece is absolutely enviable!  Perfect ear shape, size, and set. Skull flat between the ears and slightly rounded. Gorgeous golden eyes that are correctly shaped with no haw showing.  Muzzle is broad, deep, and laid back. Cheeks are well developed and her stop is defined, and oh don’t get me started on her nose roll(s).  That is right folks!  Not one wrinkle over her chocolate nose, but two wrinkles.  Her undershot jaw is deep, square, broad, and well turned up.

Basically, just read the AKC standard for the French Bulldog breed, and it fits our lovely Decadence to a tee, except for her color, of course!  Those pesky folks at the FBDCA don’t care for CHOCOLATE, so they have made it a ‘disqualifying color’ in the breed standard.

BUT, color aside, check out the rest of the physical traits for the Frenchie and compare to our lovely chocolate morsel.

The neck is thick and well arched with loose skin at the throat. The back is a roach back with a slight fall close behind the shoulders; strong and short, broad at the shoulders and narrowing at the loins. The body is short and well rounded. The chest is broad, deep, and full; well ribbed with the belly tucked up. The tail is either straight or screwed (but not curly), short, hung low, thick root and fine tip; carried low in repose.

Forelegs are short, stout, straight, muscular and set wide apart. Dewclaws may be removed. Feet are moderate in size, compact and firmly set. Toes compact, well split up, with high knuckles and short stubby nails.

Hind legs are strong and muscular, longer than the forelegs, so as to elevate the loins above the shoulders. Hocks well let down. Feet are moderate in size, compact and firmly set. Toes compact, well split up, with high knuckles and short stubby nails; hind feet slightly longer than forefeet.

Decadence has been retired after producing two litters for us.

She is living in North Carolina now, in her forever home, but she is the dam of our redheaded girl, Bullistik Temper Tantrum, SpitFire, so although she is no longer living with us , she is still an integral part of our breeding program through the genes that she passed on to her  gorgeous daughter, SpitFire.
